If you are lucky enough to have been blessed with sibling(s) – read sister(s) – then you know it better than anyone else that you have your best friend and a bickering enemy both combined into one person! There is a famous saying that a sibling is the only enemy you can never live without. If you start thinking about it then you will realize that it is absolutely true; more so, if you are a woman and have a sister back home.
There is no point in thinking that an elder sister and a younger sister will be vastly different in their characteristics. Yes, an elder sister is bound to be more protective of her younger counterpart but that does not mean that the younger sister will not have any care in the world for her sibling. There will always be moments when this protective nature gets to your nerves! Your sibling will start resembling your worst enemy. You might even mistake this protectiveness for possessiveness! But in the end, all of what she thinks and feels is just to ensure that you are perfectly safe.
How did your sister react the first time you told her you love someone? Most likely, her reaction confused you! Instead of being on cloud nine after hearing that you have fallen for someone, she squinted her eyes and asked how your partner is as a person rather bluntly. Even for the first few times she met your ‘love’, she seemed to be examining the person with great attention. You might have felt irritated at times, but it did not take you long to understand that she was doing so because she loved you from the bottom of her heart. You know it as well as we do that there is nothing that she would want to see more than the two of you happy together.
Apart from her serious and caring nature, your sister can also be a bit crazy and childish at times. It is perfectly understandable if you are angry with her for such behavior, but then again, she is your sister and who can she be childish with if not you?! That chocolate cake you had kept in the fridge to eat later did not vanish by itself… your sister was craving for the chocolate so much that she decided that she would have it before anyone else could! Don’t get furious… remember the time when you were sick, and she brought you your favorite chocolates?
Let’s face it, your sister has the right to scold you, like no one else does! Your sister can watch all your moves, and even berate you if she feels that you have done something wrong. But that is her right alone. No other person can afford to scold you like she does, and if they do then she will get back at them by scolding them in return; except, of course, your parents in which case she might throw a tantrum and stop eating for a while….
She will never agree to have fun at a party if you are not invited! Her best friend might have invited her to a fun-filled picnic, but she will definitely not be going there if you are not invited. She knows it well that you love eating out and more so if there is a picnic concerned. The exciting badminton games and the boat rides on the pond are just what you love the most. Your sister loves all of it just as much as you do, maybe even more, but she is willing to let all of it go just so that you do not feel left out. She is always there even when you least think she would.
There are certain things that your sister is really strict about, and one among them is letting anyone enter her room. She absolutely hates it when somebody enters her room at odd times or without taking her permission, and this is also applicable to your parents! Strangely enough, she does not seem to mind at all when you make the same ‘mistakes’. In fact, she enjoys your company in the room, asks you to come in every now and then to gossip or share secrets and even gives you the responsibility to guard the place when she is not around. This not only shows her love for you but also the respect and trust she has in you.
Sibling love, especially when it concerns sisters is bound to be replete with an overdose of every kind of sweet or sour flavor! Be it anger and sadness or respect and happiness. Sisters may leave no stone unturned when they quarrel or pull each other’s hair, but they can also show love to each other like no one else can.
Well, my sister certainly does.
