Let me begin by announcing that we have completed a year of publishing our thoughts. I especially feel proud and excited that we have created a veritable compendium of ideas and thoughts over this period that will continue to drive conversations around Better Living. Around making the world a Better Place. We began in September ’20 with musings around the theme of Evolution and made our way through Reflection, Infinity, Celebration, Friendship, Love, Breathe, Gratitude, Desire, Passion, Velocity and ended our first year on a high note by working on the idea of Fire. The fire in each of us that makes us want to make the world a Better Place. The fire that drives us to wake up each day and face all that life throws at us.
Over this year you heard not only from me and our motley crew but from a variety of people from many corners of this world. A variety of perspectives all driving conversations about making our world a Better Place.
Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping.– Hubert Reeves
We start our second year by bringing attention the very life force that sustains us – Nature. Nature is all powerful and all essential. And yet mankind continues to treat it with disdain. Destroying it without thought. Burning forests, cutting trees, reclaiming sea fronts, consuming mindlessly, discarding shamelessly – not stopping to think the impact it is all having. It is not all bad. Many are changing direction. But the current level of action is simply not enough. Each one of us has to change our approach. And whilst that is not happening Nature is taking things in its own hands. In recent years there has been a lot push back from Nature. Floods, droughts, land-slides, storms, cyclones, changing weather cycles. The list goes on. We have to rebuild nature. Simply have to.
“The best remedy for those who are afraid , lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As longs as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.”
― Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl
Then there is the fact that Nature heals. Whenever I am troubled I turn to Nature. Time spent in Nature truly heals me. It takes me nothing to pack my bags and head off to the mountains or the sea shore and get my dose of nature at its best. At times I question myself – Am I running away? After a lot of thought the answer that emerges that I am re-building myself. Not running away. I crave quiet time and inevitably gravitate towards it in my daily life.
This month we also continue our push to inspire our readers to make their very own micro-forests. To this end we have put out a detailed guide on making your own micro-forests.
Jenny, a dear and old friend, shares her experiences with nature in and around Avalon. A place that has been home for her since some time now. This has been a truly inspiring read for me.
“The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match your nature with Nature.”
Joseph Campbell
Much love, light and inspiration to all our readers. May all our collective efforts restore the balance of Nature.
